How Microsoft licenses are counted as Keepit seats

At Keepit, we use “seat” as the metric to measure your consumption of our services. Each seat you purchase represents a licensed user or an item, such as an employee or a meeting room, from your organization. These are products to which you can assign Keepit services.

We know not all your Microsoft products have the same value. This is why Keepit has 4 seat types: 

• Full seat 
• Light seat 
• Faculty seat
• Student seat 

Our technology also recognizes some of your Microsoft products without counting them as seat, such as Microsoft Teams Trial or Microsoft Teams Shared Devices. 

The following table lists the most used Microsoft online service products. In it we provide their ID values and show you which type of Keepit seat they are counted as. 

• M365 license: License name used in Microsoft's management portals
• String ID: ID used by PowerShell v1.0 cmdlets when performing operations on licenses or by the skuPartNumber property of the subscribedSku Microsoft Graph API 
• GUID: GUID used by the skuId property of the subscribedSku Microsoft Graph API 
• Keepit seat: Seat type associated with a specific Microsoft online service product

Ignore list 

Keepit maintains a long list of license types that are not counted as seats. This list can be requested upon request by sending an email to support@keepit.com
